- Making a double hundred in men's ODIs, Maxwell became the first player who wasn't an opener. As many as 11 men's ODI double hundreds have now been achieved; but, prior to Maxwell's magnificent effort, an opener had amassed each of them. The Australia all-rounder entered at No. 6 to further accentuate this amazing achievement.
- Maxwell also clinched the record of having the highest individual score in Men's ODI for Australia as he beat the previous top score by Shane Watson's 185* against Bangladesh in 2011. Interestingly, the only other hitter from Australia to make a double hundred in an ODI is Belinda Clark, who struck 229* against Denmark in the 1997 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup.
- Maxwell's double century knock is the highest score by a batsman in an ODI's second innings and the first double hundred in the history of the competition whilst chasing. Earlier, Fakhar Zaman's 193 against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2021 was the highest in chasing.
- The Australian all-rounder's mystical innings also set the record of being only the third double century to come in a men's Cricket World Cup. This feat has only been achieved by Martin Guptill (237*) against West Indies and Chris Gayle (215) against
