Dengue has been on a rise in several states in the country. Bopal witnessed a 19 per cent positivity rate for dengue reported by the health department. According to district malaria office, as many as 13 patients were diagnosed with dengue and in the government laboratory 67 tests of suspected cases were undertaken.
During a malaria department household survey, at least 6 percent of households were detected with larvae that breed into mosquitoes.
The total number of dengue cases reached 775 on Monday with an increase of 35 new cases over the last week.
The health department had hinted at a dip in the cases before Diwali with an anticipated decline in temperature. Virologists say that the dengue mosquito cannot survive in temperatures below 16 degree Celsius.

Eight people were tested positive on November 14 for dengue at a health department facility. On Tuesday, the district malaria officer, Dr Akhilesh Dubey said that the total number of dengue cases has now reached 740 in Bhopal with around a dozen new cases being reported since then, said media reports.
Bhopal has recorded the highest cases of vector borne ailments since 2017 with 120 people being tested positive for chikungunya.
In the year 2022, the national vector borne disease control program reported a total of 3,318 dengue cases across Madhya Pradesh. This year, Bhopal has alone surpassed one-fifth of all the dengue cases that were reported last year.
