Meet Sayali Satghare, fast-bowling all-rounder who made her debut against Ireland
Sayali Satghare made her international debut for India in the first ODI against Ireland Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Friday.
Satghare is a 24-year-old seam bowling all rounder. She earned her spot in the national team after performring consistently in the domestic circuit. On Friday, she filled the gap left by a rested Renuka Singh.
The all-rounder's parents were present at the Satghare's debut ceremony. Her journey has been one of determination and perseverance. Her skills caught the attention of selectors, and WPL teams. She was signed by Gujarat Giants in the 2024 WPL season. Though her opportunities on the field were limited, including a brief appearance as a concussion substitute for D Hemalatha, Satghare’s readiness for big-stage cricket was evident.
In the domestic arena, Sarghare has played 51 List-A matches, scoring 666 runs at an average of 20.81, including a match-winning century against Arunachal Pradesh during the 2023-24 Senior Women’s One Day Trophy. Her contributions with the ball have been even better, as she has claimed 56 wickets at an average of 20.60.
