Mega Millions ticket was purchased in Ames, Iowa, according to a report in Sun.
On September 6, 2022, an individual visited The Filling Station and Gateway Express and acquired a lottery ticket featuring the numbers 6, 17, 46, 59, and 68. The only number that did not match was the Mega Ball, which turned out to be 2, the report in Sun stated.
The fortunate ticket holder has until September 6 to come forward and claim their substantial prize, and they are required to do so in person at the Iowa Lottery headquarters located in Clive.
Unclaimed winnings are reinvested into the prize pool for future lottery winners within the state.
In addition, two other Iowa lottery prizes are nearing their expiration dates. A Powerball ticket that secured a $150,000 win on October 29, 2022, will expire on October 30, while another ticket that won $150,000, purchased on November 5, 2022, will expire on November 6.
Notably, in 2022 alone, over $1.5 million in prizes went unclaimed, as reported by the Des Moines Register.
In Florida, there are currently 28 lottery games with unclaimed significant prizes.
Among them, the "$1 Million a Year for Life Spectacular" game boasts the highest number of unclaimed tickets with jackpots exceeding $1 million, totaling 175 unclaimed tickets. The «Gold Rush Limited» game follows closely with 30 unclaimed $1 million winning tickets.
Additionally, there are only 15 unclaimed $1 million tickets for the «Gold Rush Doubler» game. The «Florida 300X the Cash» offers a staggering $15 million prize, and just three unclaimed tickets remain for this substantial reward.
