Mickey 17 after it was earlier updated from its previous date which was on March 29, 2024. The release date for the latest Mickey 17 has been announced by Warner Bros. for the new film by Bong Joon-Ho which is on January 31, 2025. It also made the confirmation that Mickey 17 will be playing in the IMAX theatres. The leading character of Mickey Barnes played by star Robert Pattinson will be accompanied by Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo, Naomi Ackie, and Toni Collette.

The project Mickey 17 is based on the novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton and directed, and written by Bong Joon-ho. The film's producers are Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B, Bong for Offscreen, and Dooho Choi for Kate Street Picture Company.
The novel Mickey7 is centered around an Expendable, which is described by the synopsis as «a throwaway employee on a human voyage sent for colonizing Niflheim, the ice world.
