Delhi University is set to implement enhanced security measures for its degree certificates to combat forgery. These new measures will be introduced during the university's centenary convocation in February.
The special degrees will incorporate various currency-like features to ensure their authenticity.
The upgraded certificates will include several security elements such as micro-text, a hidden image, and an invisible ink logo. These features will facilitate easy identification of genuine certificates and deter counterfeit attempts.
Additionally, the certificates will be designed to be waterproof, heat-resistant, and resistant to chemicals.
An ultraviolet light will be required to reveal the tamper-proof invisible logo. Microprinting, which involves printing patterns or characters in a scale requiring magnification for legibility, will also be used.
Furthermore, reverse microtext visible only under a microscope will be complemented by rainbow-colored foiling.
For the first time, the special degrees will feature a color image of the students and include their mother's name.
The new certificates will be printed on tear-resistant and eraser-protected paper made from polyethylene/terephthalate and other chemical compounds. This will ensure durability and weatherproofing.
With a thickness of 280 microns and weighing 350 grams per square meter, the certificates will have a glossy finish and excellent archival quality. These features will maintain the color resistance and quality of the certificates even at high temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius.
The batch of students graduating on February 24 will be the first to receive these upgraded degrees.
