Narendra Modi will not return to power after the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, Nationalist Congress Party president Sharad Pawar has said. Setting to rest speculation that he may follow his nephew, Pawar said that he will not align with BJP but work for change of government in 2024. The INDIA bloc has come together to fight BJP and provide an alternative to NDA, he said.
“We will fight, stand united and create a public opinion and show them their place,” Pawar told journalists in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, on the eve of his Thursday rally in Beed. “During his Red Fort speech, he kept saying that he would return as PM; Devendra Fadnavis also said he would return as CM but could not. I have no doubt that Modi will not return as PM.
The situation in the country is different,” Pawar said. The 2024 elections would not be ‘conducive’ for BJP as it was not in power in several states, he contended. Pawar slammed Modi for not devoting time to end the violence in Manipur.
“The northeast is sensitive due to its proximity to China. However, the government has been a mute spectator to the happenings in Manipur. The PM has just spoken for a few minutes about it inside and outside Parliament.
Modi should have gone to Manipur to give confidence to the people, but he did not think it was important. He went to address poll campaigns in Madhya Pradesh,” Pawar said. Pawar alleged that the BJP government was causing hatred among communities.
