Venkatesh Prasad has come down heavily on Team India's performance after Hardik Pandya's boys lost to West Indies in the second ODI. In a series of post on social media platform X, which was Twitter earlier, Venkatesh Prasad said India's performance in ODIs and T20 has been very ordinary for quite sometime now. India is yet to win a ICC trophy since 2013 Champions Trophy triumph.
The former India player also said that the current players' «approach and attitude is also a factor for underperformance over a period of time.» Venkatesh Prasad pointed out to India's «poor» performance in the last two T20 World Cups. In the 2021 T20 World Cup, India had failed to qualify to the knockout stage while in the 2022 T20 World Cup, India lost to England by 10 wickets in the semifinal. The former India pacer also said that India lost ODI series against «Bangladesh, South Africa and Australia» «Test cricket aside, India has been very ordinary in the other two formats for quite sometime now.
Neither are we an exciting team like England nor brutal like how the Aussies used to be,» he said. «Despite the money and power, we have become used to celebrating mediocrity and are far from how champion sides are. Every team plays to win and so does India but their approach and attitude is also a factor for underperformance over a period of time,» he added.
Venkatesh Prasad's tweet has been viewed 1.1 million times in less than 24 hours since it was posted. Some fans were critical of Team India' s performance in Test matches also. India qualified to the finals of the past to World Test Championship but lost to New Zealand in the inaugural edition in 2021 and earlier this year to Australia.
