Monsoon Rain: Heavy rain persisted in various parts of the national capital and its neighbouring areas on early Sunday morning, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).The IMD further forecasted high-intensity showers to continue over New Delhi for the next two days. According to a tweet by the IMD, thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate rain are expected in isolated places of Delhi and its adjoining areas.
Narela, Alipur, Rohini, Badili, Pitampura, Paschim Vihar, Punjabi Bagh, Kashmiri Gate, Seelampur, Rajauri Garden, Red Fort, Rajeev Chauk, ITO, and Jafarpur are among the locations where rainfall has been predicted.Meanwhile, IMD has further issued a red alert for seven districts of Himachal Pradesh and an orange alert for three districts for the next 48 hours as the state continued to receive heavy rainfall. IMD has also issued alerts for flash floods, landslides in the state.Several parts of northwest India, including the national capital of Delhi, witnessed an intense spell of rain on Saturday, leading to waterlogging in several important road stretches and commuters facing traffic woes.Down south, some parts of Kerala witnessed heavy rain in the morning hours, causing traffic snarls and waterlogging in low-lying areas.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the rains lashed the northwesters parts of the country due to the interaction of a Western Disturbance and monsoonal winds.The IMD said the Western Disturbance (WD) prevailed over northern India, while the monsoon trough extended to the south of its normal position, reaching lower tropospheric levels.
