Amazon Prime Video’s ‘My Fault’ or Culpa Mia actor Gabriel Guevara has been arrested at the Venice Film Festival, stated media reports. The arrest follow Guevara becoming the subject of an international warrant due to sexual assault allegations against him.
As per reports, the Spanish actor was arrested on Saturday, September 2. He had traveled for the Venice Film Festival to take part in the Il Filming Italy Best Movie Award, which was a separate unofficial event held at the Hotel Excelsior on Sunday.
At the Venice Film Festival, Gabriel Guevara’s purpose was to accept the Il Filming Italy Best Movie International Award Young Generation for his role in «My Fault.» After his arrest, the Venice Film Festival released a statement on Sunday clarifying that Guevara was not an official guest of the festival's 80th edition.
Taking to Twitter, the Venice Film Festival said that it “would like to specify that the presence in #Venice of Spanish actor #GabrielGuevara, that some press websites have recently reported as being under arrest, was not linked to any activity or production of the 80th Venice International Film Festival.”
The organizers of the Il Filming Italy Best Movie Award initiative informed the local news agency Ansa that they had chosen to «temporarily suspend any acknowledgment» as a precautionary measure. They stated that this decision was made while waiting for further information regarding the circumstances involving Guevara, expressing their confidence that the legal process would unfold appropriately.
