N Biren Singh on Saturday evening air dashed to Guwahati and discussed security and developmental aspects of the northeast with his Assam counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Taking to Facebook, Biren said “It was a pleasure meeting with the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma Ji, at his official residence in Guwahati today.”
“Discussed various matters concerning the security and development of the North East region.
The measures for the welfare of the Manipuris living in Assam were also deliberated,” he added.
Himanta stated in X, «Had the pleasure to host Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur Shri N Biren Singh Ji at my residence last evening.»
Earlier on Saturday before departing for Guwahati, Biren launched the College Fagathansi Mission, a scheme to develop colleges at Moirang College in Bishnupur district.
Addressing the gathering, Biren maintained that the state government has been taking up all possible efforts for the betterment of the people affected by the ongoing conflict and sought support and cooperation of the public in the government's initiatives towards restoration of peace.
His government had been giving priority in the health and education sector since the formation of his government in 2017, added Biren, who returned back to Imphal on Sunday afternoon.
Stressing the importance of education, Biren stated that with proper education, everyone would know the importance of preserving reserved forest which is important for mitigating environment degradation, provision contained in the Forest Act and the Indian Constitution.
