NASA astronaut Sunita Williams is coming home soon! Check date, time & landing details
NASA has confirmed that astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore will return to Earth in late March 2025. Originally scheduled for an earlier return, their departure was delayed due to mission rescheduling and technical challenges. Crew-10, which will replace them aboard the International Space Station (ISS), is set to launch on 12 March 2025 at 7:48 PM EDT. Williams and Wilmore, part of Crew-9, are expected to begin their journey home around a week later, barring unforeseen weather or operational delays.

Crew-10’s Arrival and the Rotation of ISS Crew
Crew-10’s arrival ensures a smooth transition, maintaining full staffing on the ISS. The incoming crew includes NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Nichole Ayers, Roscosmos cosmonaut Kirill Peskov, and Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s Takuya Onishi. After docking with the ISS, the new team will undergo a week-long handover process with Crew-9 before Williams and Wilmore depart.
Switching from Boeing Starliner to SpaceX Dragon
Williams and Wilmore originally travelled to the ISS aboard Boeing’s Starliner capsule in June 2024. Their mission, intended to last ten days, extended to over eight months due to ongoing technical issues with Starliner. NASA, prioritising crew safety and mission efficiency, opted to bring them back on SpaceX’s Crew Dragon instead.
