Alakh Pandey, CEO of EdTech firm 'Physics Wallah,' filed one of the petitions, challenging the NTA's alleged arbitrary awarding of grace marks to over 1,500 candidates.

The petition claimed the grace marks were a reactive measure, not planned before result declaration. «So much so this clarification came about only when queries were raised as to how 718/719 marks out of total 720 marks can be awarded when the same was not technically possible as per the marking scheme,» the plea stated, calling for an independent investigation.
The plea demanded details on the 1,563 candidates who received grace marks, including their original, grace, and revised scores. On June 10, student protests in Delhi called for an investigation into alleged exam irregularities, noting that grace marks led to 67 students achieving top ranks. Many claimed six of them came from the same exam centre in Haryana.
The Centre told Supreme Court that the decision to grant grace marks to 1,563 NEET-UG 2024 candidates has been cancelled. Affected students will be given the option to retake the exam. The exam will happen on June 23 and the result for the exam
