Supreme Court on Thursday that it has decided to cancel the grace marks awarded to 1,563 students in this year's all-India medical entrance examination, National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (Undergraduate) (NEET-UG) 2024 due to allegations of discrepancies.
These candidates will be notified of their actual scores, excluding the grace marks, and will be given the option to appear for a re-test, the counsel representing the Union government said.
The matter involves multiple concerns such as granting grace marks to over 1,500 students, an unusually large number of students achieving perfect scores, and allegations that the question paper was leaked.
Several test prep startups including PhysicsWallah, Unacademy, Adda247 and Aakash continue to question the role of the National Testing Agency (NTA) which is responsible for conducting the exam and have called for further investigation into the matter.
