NIT Silchar on Monday staged Satyagraha demanding justice for a student who was found hanging in his hostel room.
The students as a mark of protest and justice for Koj Buker organised the Satyagraha programme inside campus. The student was found hanging on September 14.
The students wants removal of dean academic B.K Roy and his arrests as well.
The students alleged that Buker was not allowed to go to the classes in fifth semester and was repeatedly insulted by the Dean Academics, BK Roy in front of the other students a few days back.
The students had protested on Friday night and the process had gone violent with the dean academics house being ransacked and several vehicles vandalised.Police had to resort to lathi charge where 40 students got injured.
«We want justice for Koj Buker and compensation for his family members. Koj was mentally and physically strong.
He was not a drug addict. The NIT Silchar administration has given false allegation against him which was not justified.
They said he was mentally unstable and a drug addict which was totally false,» said a agitated student.
The student added, “We are very good friends and he was a very smiling face kind of a guy. After his mother's death he got depressed and at the same time the six backlogs was slapped on him which has depressed him a lot.
