More jobs were created in the first 10 years of the Narendra Modi government with a significant surge in the number in 2023-24, labour and employment minister Mansukh Mandaviya said, citing Reserve Bank of India's KLEMS data on capital, labour, energy, materials and services sectors.
According to a study done by the Ministry of Labour and Employment to evaluate job creation between 2004-14 and 2014-24 by using the KLEMS data, 171.9 million additional jobs were created during the first 10 years of the Modi government, compared with 29 million in the previous decade under the UPA regime.
While UPA's 10 years created 29 million jobs, 46 million jobs were created in 2023-24 alone, said Mandaviya, adding: «This is RBI data.»
According to the ministry, growth in employment during the 10 years of the UPA was 7%.
