India won the semi-final match against New Zealand, its 10th consecutive win in the current ICC World Cup, to secure a place in the Final. Several Indian players contributed to this victory, including Virat Kohli, who achieved his record-breaking 50th ODI century, Shreyas Iyer with his second consecutive hundred, and the remarkable performances by Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Mohammed Shami.
But, former England captain Nasser Hussain singled out Rohit Sharma as the true hero of the Indian team.
Hussain praised Rohit for his fearless approach as a leader and at the top of the batting order, which has had a positive influence on the team's culture.
To underline his statement, Hussain, who was speaking during Star Sports' post-match discussion, said that the fearless approach that Rohit has shown as a leader and at the top of the batting order has been infectious.
Hussain shared an anecdote from fellow commentator and Indian player Dinesh Karthik, where Rohit expressed the need for a change in their approach after a disappointing match in the T20 World Cup 2022.
«We were all there at the (T20 World Cup 2022) semifinal in Adelaide where they (India) played meek, timid cricket, plodded along, got a below par score and England knocked them off none down, won by 10 wickets.
