Angelo Mathews' batting helmet has now made it into the road safety awareness campaign of Odisha State Transport Authority. Riding on the spotlight generated by Mathews controversial timed-out dismissal, the state transport authority in its latest rode safety campaign has stressed on the importance on the use of standard and certified helmets while driving on roads.
Mathews was ruled timed out during the World Cup match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh played on November 6 after he was not ready to face the first ball of his innings within the stipulated time of two minutes. The cricketer could be seen pointing out that the strap of his helmet was broken and sought another helmet.
In the awareness post on X and Facebook, the STA shared a post, «Don't throw away your wicket, play a consistent long innings.
Always wear ISI certified helmet & tie the strap. Also encourage pillion rider to do so. On Field or Off Field Safety First always !»
The transport authority used Angelo Mathews photos with a caption: «On field or off field……bad quality helmets can take your wicket.»
