Old Swan, Liverpool. The fight was over a weapon. Eight suspects, including women, have been arrested by the police. Here’s what we know of the case.
What happened in Old Swan?Liverpoolecho reported that Merseyside police called to address disturbance in a flat on Haslingden Close. The incident happened around 1 am local time on Wednesday, August 9. The police found that inside the flat, at least four persons had injuries caused by a bladed object – possibly a pair of scissors – though the weapon used has not been identified yet. Out of the four, three people suffered non-serious injuries and the fourth person had to be admitted to hospital with a chest injury. Detectives soon began their search and found two suspects nearby. They were promptly arrested on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent and affray, with six other people being arrested soon after. Out of those arrested were six men – aged 30, 48, 50, 54, 56, 57, and two women – aged 35 and 54. The arrested are being questioned to establish what led to the fight. Officers are also conducting closed-circuit television (CCTV) and doorbell enquiries and seek out witnesses, if any. Detective Inspector Katie Coote has reassured local residents that the police has “launched a thorough investigation and our enquiries are ongoing”. The detective has urged that if you live in the area of the incident, “please check your doorbell and CCTV footage to see if you captured anything suspicious at the time of the incident.
