Britney Spears' music, is set to finish its run on Broadway.
Having commenced in June, the show is scheduled to hold its final performance at Marquis Theatre on September 3. By the conclusion, it would have been performed for 123 shows.
Choreographed by Keone and Mari Madrid, known for their work in hip-hop, 'Once Upon a One More Time' presents a fantasy story reimagining classic fairytale characters. Britney Spears' songs like «Oops I Did It Again,» «Lucky,» «Circus,» and «Toxic» are integral to the production. The narrative takes off as Cinderella, Snow White, and Little Mermaid's exposure to Betty Friedan's manifesto, «The Feminine Mystique,» triggers a feminist realization, prompting them to reconsider the concept of happily ever after.
James L. Nederlander and Hunter Arnold, the producers, expressed their pride in the project. They acknowledged the cast and creative team for their exceptional skills and passion. The production's future plans include global performances.
The main cast consists of Briga Heelan, known for «Great News,» Justin Guarini from «American Idol,» and Adam Godley of «The Lehman Trilogy.» Other notable cast members are Jennifer Simard, Brooke Dillman, Aisha Jackson, Ryann Redmond and Tess Soltau.
Initially developed and produced by Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington D.C., the show received mixed reviews. Although attendance dropped when the show transitioned to Broadway this summer, it maintained an average capacity of 50%. The producers are actively planning a national tour and international versions, with details to be disclosed later.
