Furthermore, the software landscape for foldables is still in its nascent stages, like a toddler learning to walk. Yet, the market is slowly gaining traction and the latest entrant is OnePlus with its first foldable phone — OnePlus Open (costs `1,39,999) and is one of the most expensive phones you can buy.
The OnePlus Open follows the design template set by Samsung but with a twist of its own. The OnePlus Open boasts a dual-display setup — a slender 6.3-inch outer screen and a flexible 7.8-inch panel tucked inside. Both panels, slightly larger than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5’s, flaunt dazzling 120Hz refresh rates. OnePlus takes the brightness game to new heights, hitting around 1,400 nits in standard use and 2,800 nits in HDR content scenarios.
Does it feel like an overkill? Perhaps, but nevertheless, brightness woes were non-existent. Staying true to Samsung’s folding blueprint, OnePlus has an inward folding design. The Open is certainly bigger than the Galaxy Z Fold 5 but is surprisingly sleek. Hinge and crease are the Achilles heel of foldables. OnePlus tackles these concerns adeptly. A subtle groove graces the main display’s middle, noticeable but only at acute angles.
