The row stems from Sharif’s alleged use of a VPN to access the platform, a practice that is reportedly prohibited under Pakistan's national regulations.
On November 6, following Trump’s victory in the US elections, Sharif posted a message on X that said: «Congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump on his historic victory for a second term! I look forward to working closely with the incoming Administration to further strengthen and broaden the Pakistan-U.S. partnership.»
However, shortly after, the platform added a Community Note to the post, stating that Sharif was accessing X through a Virtual Private Network (VPN), which, according to Pakistani law, is unlawful.
