On its official Google Doodles page, Google wrote, “The wait is over, the weights are on. Get ready for today’s Para Powerlifting event at Aréna Porte de La Chapelle!” The Powerlifting event, which began on September 4, will continue until September 8, with athletes competing across various categories.
Para Powerlifting, adapted for athletes with disabilities, allows participants with one or more of eight eligible physical impairments to take part, according to the official Paralympic website. All athletes in the event must have an impairment in their lower limbs or hips that meets the minimum impairment criteria.
On the first day of competition, China’s L.L. Guo took first place in the women’s 45 kg category, with Z. Newson of Great Britain and N. Muratli of Turkey finishing in second and third. In the men’s 49 kg category, Jordan’s O. Qarada won gold, while Turkey’s A. Kayapinar secured silver, and Vietnam’s V.C. Lê took bronze.
Earlier, on September 2, Google celebrated the Day 2 of the wheelchair tennis event with another engaging doodle featuring animated birds. On September 3, Google continued the theme with a similar doodle for the wheelchair tennis competition.
