Paris Paralympics 2024: France is unable to find a bed for world’s second-tallest man, forced to sleep on floor
Morteza Mehrzadselakjani, has encountered unforeseen difficulties at the Paris Paralympic Games. The «Fatal Weapon,» Mehrzadselakjani, an Iranian who is eight feet one inch tall, has been forced to sleep on the ground because there aren't enough comfortable sleeping spaces. In contrast to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, where he was given a special bed, Paris has not made such an arrangement, as per the reports of Yahoo sports.
Mehrzadselakjani’s achievements
Mehrzadselakjani is a remarkable athlete in sitting volleyball, a sport modified for players with disabilities. He is noted for his impressive height and his achievements in this sport. During the Tokyo Games, he won gold and had a custom bed to accommodate his height. His height and physical condition, due to acromegaly—a disorder causing excessive growth hormone production—make standard accommodations challenging.

Previous support and current challenges
In Tokyo, special provisions were made for Mehrzadselakjani, but this has not been the case in Paris. His coach, Hadi Rezaeigarkani, expressed disappointment over the lack of similar support this year. Despite these difficulties, Rezaeigarkani highlighted that Mehrzadselakjani remains focused on his goal of winning. The athlete’s determination to succeed overshadows the discomfort of sleeping on the floor or dealing with other logistical issues.
