Patna's double-decker flyover completion delayed further and Delhi Metro is the reason behind it
Patna Double decker flyover to ease congestion on Ashok Rajpath
The 2.2-km-long flyover is being constructed on Ashok Rajpath, one of the busiest roads in the city. It aims to improve traffic flow between Gandhi Maidan and NIT More. Vehicles will move on three levels, reducing congestion, while parking space will be created under the flyover.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar laid the foundation stone for the project in December 2021.
Double decker flyover's majority work completed
According to engineers, about 91% of the civil work has been completed. The remaining 9%, including expansion joints, wearing coat, crack barriers, side railing, noise barriers, service roads, and painting, is expected to be finished in the next month. Installation of a hanging garden on the pillars is also in progress.
The Rs 442 crore project consists of two levels designed to decongest traffic. The first level, 1.5 km long, runs through the educational corridor, linking Patna College to BN College. The second level stretches 2.2 km from Kargil Chowk to Science College. Both levels have two lanes, each with a width of 7.5 metres, allowing unidirectional traffic flow.
