DTH) platforms has declined by 1.37 million to 65.25 million for the quarter ended March from 66.6 million in the trailing quarter, according to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India's (TRAI) performance indicator report.
For the quarter under review, Tata Play's subscriber base dropped to 21.3 million from 21.78 million in the trailing quarter. Bharti Telemedia's subscriber base fell to 17.46 million from 17.55 million.
Dish TV has seen a reduction in its subscriber base to 14.21 million from 14.89 million.
Sun Direct's base has decreased to 12.27 million from 12.38 million.
For the quarter ended March, the private FM radio operators reported a 9% QoQ drop in ad revenue at Rs 388.97 crore. The country has 388 private FM radio stations.
As per the reporting done by broadcasters, the report noted that there were 358 satellite pay TV channels as of March 31, 2023.
Out of 358 pay TV channels, 254 are standard-definition satellite pay TV channels and 104 are high-definition satellite pay TV channels.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has permitted approximately 903 private satellite TV channels for uplinking only, downlinking only, or both uplinking and downlinking.
TRAI stated that there are 1748 multi-system operators (MSOs) registered with MIB as of February 28.
As per the data reported by MSOs and HITS operators, there are 12 MSOs and one headend-in-the-sky (HITS) operator that have a subscriber base greater than one million.
The cumulative subscriber count of these 13 platforms remained unchanged at 44.6 million.
