Enforcement Directorate told Supreme Court that the two prime accused senior bureaucrats in the Nagrik Apurti Nigam (PDS) scam of Chhattisgarh, were in contact with the judge who granted bail to one of the two. According to ED, Anil Kumar Tuteja and Alok Shukla were speaking to the High Court judge who «granted bail to Shukla in October, 2019.»
ED claims that the two accused were in contact with the judge through Satish Chandra Verma, the then advocate general.
While the probe agency has not named the judge in the affidavit filed on August 1, contents from WhatsApp chat details linked to the case found in annexures state that Justice Arvind Kumar Chandel was the judge in question, who was reached through former state chief secretary Ajay Singh. Justice Chandel was tranferred to Patna High Court this year.
ED alleges that the two accused, who were bureaucrats serving during the Congress rule in the state, tampered with evidence to weaken the case built against them.
Shukla was granted an anticipatory bail by the Chattisgarh High Court on October 16, 2019. ED's claim suggests that Tuteja was in touch with the judge through former AG Satish Chandra Verma between July 31 and August 11 of 2019, according to WhatsApp messages.
«WhatsApp messages exchange has revealed that biodata of teh daughter and son-in-law of the judge were sent to Tuteja for favourable action by then AG who has been liasoning between the judge and both the prime accused Tuteja and Shukla,» details mentioned in the the affidavit revealed.
