Kanye West, Ojvolta, and Earl on the Beat collaborated to produce Playboi Carti's latest track, «2024.» Released on Thursday (Dec. 14), the song features Carti presenting his versatile delivery with bars in both his signature baby voice and a lower, gravelly tone.
The artist had teased the single on Instagram earlier in the day, promising his dedicated fan base new music by 9:30 p.m. in night.
Kanye West notably produced the song and is rumored to release his collaboration album with Ty Dolla $ign on December 15. Carti attended Ty and Ye's Vulture rave event in Miami on December 11.
In the visuals, West wears the contentious black hood reminiscent of the KKK, causing a stir at his recent Vultures listening event.
In late 2022, West vocally and persistently provoked Jewish people, articulating anti-Semitic sentiments such as «I see positive aspects about Hitler» and «I love Nazis.» This behavior resulted in the disruption of numerous profitable deals and the erosion of goodwill. In «2024,» Carti leans in to deliver the lyrics «you know I can’t be canceled ‘cause you feel some type of way» into Kanye's ear.
Simultaneously, there's anticipation for «2024» to be part of Carti's upcoming album, reportedly titled «I AM MUSIC.» He discussed the project in a November interview with Numéro Berlin.
Apart from «2024,» Carti released «Ur The Moon» on December 8, hinting at a new album in January. DJ Akademiks, on X (formerly Twitter) on December 7, had earlier suggested Carti's preparations for a January project release.
