Days after a video of an employee complaining of the toxic culture at Byju's went viral over the social network, another video has surfaced in which an employee of the edtech company is seen asking for help from the government. The Byju's employee, in a tearful video posted on LinkedIn, accused the company of defrauding employees and customers. The employee, Akansha Khemka, also accused the company of toxic work culture and claimed that the firm is defrauding its customers and employees.
The new video came just days after a video went viral on Twitter in which a female employee at Byju's can be seen expressing her disappointment over the lack of incentives and support at the firm. She claimed that despite voicing concerns about working conditions, there has been no assistance provided. She further raises concerns about layoffs and meager settlements, citing instances where employees received just Rs 2,000.
The edtech firm is currently facing a fund crisis. The company, which was once a shining example of India's vibrant startup industry, has eliminated thousands of jobs and is now looking to raise more than a billion dollars to get by during tough times financially. The startup has also cut down on its office spaces in Bengaluru in a bid to cut costs and ramp up liquidity.
The firm not only vacated one of the three offices in Bengaluru, it has also vacated three out of the six floors it occupied at its main corporate office. There are concerns over Byju's corporate governance practices. Earlier this month, The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) ordered an inspection of Byju's books in a bid to ascertain potential corporate governance lapses at the edtech major.
