PM Awas Yojana Update: The Centre is reportedly planning to widen the scope and size of its flagship scheme Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). Now shopkeepers, traders and self-employed will also be brought under the ambit of the scheme, part of the ‘Housing for All’ mission of the central government, CNBC-TV18 reported citing sources.
The government may consider benchmarking the home loan subsidy to the price and size of the house, the report suggested.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) was launched in 2015 to provide housing to all citizens in the country. Beneficiaries received subsidy on loans under the credit linked subsidy scheme (CLSS). As per PMAY guidelines, beneficiaries were divided into three categories – EWS (economically weaker section), LIG (lower income group) and MIG (middle income group).
