Opposition alliance of 26 parties was a 'disparate group bound by glue to protect themselves from corruption probe and for promoting dynasty politics', Prime Minister Narendra Modi has alleged. NDA, on the other hand, was not formed with any intent of targeting opponents but to work for growth of all sections of society across the country, he claimed. Addressing 38 NDA constituents, majority of which are yet to win a Lok Sabha seat, in New Delhi on Tuesday, Modi said that he would spare no effort to achieve set goals.
With the Opposition alliance acronym reading as INDIA, Modi said NDA stood for New India, Development and Aspiration. He also asked alliance partners to work together. «Governments are formed through majority, but a nation runs with everybody's effort,» he said.
Allies, big and small, will be treated with equal respect, he said. «Credit and responsibility» will be shared by all of them. «Any alliance formed with negativity will never succeed.
In the past, Congress made and demolished governments,» he said. NDA acted responsibly and though it exposed scams of the government, it did not create hurdles in governance, he claimed. Parties in Opposition alliance have major differences.
Left and Congress are opponents in Kerala; Trinamool and Congress in West Bengal; RJD and JDU 'engaged in name-calling', and so on, Modi said. Earlier, Modi alleged Opposition unity reeks of corruption, self-interest and promotion of dynasty politics. «Family first, nation nothing» is the mantra of the parties, he alleged.
