Jadavpur University hostel and forensic team visited the hostel premises for probe in connection with death of first year deceased student of the university even as West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee slammed the Left-backed unions for «murder» of the young student. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition in State Assembly Suvendu Adhikari moved Calcutta High Court on Monday demanding NIA probe in Jadavpur University and implementation of UGC guidelines in the University.
The case has been accepted for hearing by Chief Justice T S Shivanganam's bench today.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said, «We were proud of Jadavpur University and we still remain so.
However, everyone have seen how people associated with Left unions have killed a young first year student. Situation has not changed.
After so many murder and after so much blood, it has not changed. They (Left) will never change.»
Kolkata Police conducted a reconstruction of events by throwing a dummy doll, with similar weight and height, from the hostel floor from where the deceased first year student fell on the night of the incident, police sources said.
Meanwhile, University Grants Commission (UGC) has sought another report from the university following its second report, people in the know said.
The Commission is reportedly dissatisfied with the second report sent by the University on Thursday night.
The newly appointed Vice-Chancellor Buddhadeb Sau, after taking charge today, convened a meeting of the Anti-ragging committee with all the Head of the Departments (HoDs).
