Modi during his virtual address in Srinagar on Thursday said that preparations for assembly elections have already started in Jammu and Kashmir and its statehood will be restored soon.
Modi arrived in Srinagar on Thursday and laid foundation and inaugurated several development projects worth around Rs 3,300 crore and gave letters to 2,000 persons appointed in government service. The PM is also participating in the International Yoga Day event on June 21 to be held at Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre on the banks of Dal Lake.
The administration has made elaborate security arrangements in the Srinagar city with restrictions on movement of traffic around the venue, drone surveillance and deployment of police and paramilitary forces across the city.
«Preparations for assembly elections have started. The time is not far when you will elect your own government with your votes. That day will also come soon, when J&K will once again make its future better as a state,» said Modi.
