WhatsApp Channels feature on the social media platform.
After the introduction of the Channels feature by WhatsApp, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially joined WhatsApp Channels on Tuesday.
In his first post on WhatsApp Channels, Prime Minister Modi expressed his excitement, stating, «Thrilled to join the WhatsApp community! It is yet another step closer in our journey of continued interactions. Let’s stay connected here! Here’s a picture from the new Parliament building…»
The move comes after Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, launched WhatsApp Channels in India and more than 150 countries on September 13.
This feature provides a private way for users to receive updates.
Meta's Chief Executive Officer, Mark Zuckerberg, shared the news, saying, «Today we're starting to roll out WhatsApp Channels globally and adding thousands of new channels that people can follow in WhatsApp. You can find Channels in the new 'Updates' tab.»
WhatsApp Channels serve as a one-way broadcast tool, offering a private means of receiving updates from individuals and organizations that matter to users, all within the WhatsApp platform.
WhatsApp aims to create the most private broadcast service with Channels, keeping them separate from regular chats, and ensuring that the identities of users you follow are not visible to others.
Channels can be easily located in a new tab labeled 'Updates,' where users can access the Status updates and channels they choose to follow.
As the rollout of Channels extends globally, WhatsApp introduces several updates:
Enhanced Directory: WhatsApp users can discover channels based on automatic filtering by their country.
