Pettifer was among 14 people who tragically lost their lives in the attack. The assailant, identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a US Army veteran who had pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, drove a pickup truck into a crowd of New Year’s revelers before being fatally shot by police. The attack also left at least 35 others injured and is being investigated as an act of terrorism by the FBI.
