Matthew Livelsberger, a 37-year-old Army veteran from Colorado Springs, died in the Tesla Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas on New Year's Day. Though officials have not officially named him as the bomber, law enforcement sources confirmed his identity to outlets like KOAA and KTNV.
Livelsberger had an extensive military background, serving 18 of his 19-year Army career with the Special Forces. According to his LinkedIn profile, he joined the Green Berets in 2006 as a communication specialist and progressed to become an operations manager and team sergeant in 2023. Most recently, he served as a Remote and Autonomous Systems Manager for the Army.
The explosion involved a mix of charred fireworks, mortars, canisters, and other explosive devices found in the truck bed. Authorities have not yet determined how the explosives were detonated, but Livelsberger was the only casualty in the incident.
