Under the new directive, all schools, whether affiliated with the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), or Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), will be required to include Punjabi in their curriculum.
Meanwhile, after several political leaders in Punjab raised concerns about the alleged removal of Punjabi from the CBSE's draft scheme for the twice-a-year board exam format, the board issued a clarification on Wednesday.
CBSE confirmed that Punjabi will be included in the revised draft of the scheme next year, which aims to introduce board exams twice a year, with one regional and foreign language at the core.
