Qatar Airways issues apology for making couple sit next to dead passenger for four hours; defends crew's actions as 'appropriate'
Qatar Airways has responded to a distressing incident aboard a flight from Melbourne to Doha, where a deceased woman’s body was placed next to an Australian couple for several hours.
The airline conducted an internal review and stated that its crew «acted quickly, appropriately and professionally» in handling the situation.
The incident gained attention after Mitchell Ring and Jennifer Colin, who were traveling to Venice, shared their experience with Channel Nine in Australia.
What happened on the flight?
The couple, who were seated in economy class, were shocked when the body of a deceased woman, covered with blankets, was placed next to them for the last four hours of their 14-hour journey.
According to Ring, the cabin crew faced difficulties moving the woman's body to the business class section, as she was «quite a large lady,» and after struggling to find an appropriate place, the staff decided to place her next to him.
