Reserve Bank of India has approved the re-appointment of ICICI Bank managing director Sandeep Bakhshi for three years, the bank said Monday.
Bakhshi's current tenure will come to an end on October 3. The new tenure will be from October 4 to October 3, 2026,
The bank board announced the re-appointment last October which subsequently received its shareholders nod at its annual general meeting held on August 30.
Bakhshi, now aged 63, took charge at the private sector lender in October 2018, following the resignation of his predecessor Chanda Kochchar amid allegations of financial irregularities against her.
Prior to that, he was wholetime director and the chief operating officer.
An alumnus of XLRI Jamshedpur, Bakhshi has been with the ICICI Group for 37 years after joining ICICI in 1986. He later handled various assignments across the group which includes heading both the ICICI Lombard General Insurance, and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance.
