After enduring a life-threatening car accident in December 2022, Rishabh Pant is gearing up for a remarkable comeback in cricket during the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. His return to the field has been met with widespread joy, considering the severity of his accident, which left him with multiple injuries and necessitated surgery, sidelining him from cricket for over a year. However, Pant’s remarkable determination and resilience have propelled him back to the cricketing arena in just 14 months.
The accident occurred as Pant was traveling from Delhi to Roorkee to visit his family, tragically resulting in his car crashing into a median divider. After receiving initial treatment at a Dehradun hospital, Pant was airlifted to Mumbai for surgery.
Rishabh Pant made his mark in cricket with his first-class debut in 2015, swiftly ascending to the Indian Cricket Team in 2017. He debuted in T20I in February 2017, becoming the youngest player to represent India in a T20I match at 19 years and 120 days. Pant’s Test debut followed in August 2018, and his ODI debut in October of the same year.
Since his debut across all cricket formats, Pant has cemented his position as one of India’s premier players and among the highest earners in the sport. As of 2024, according to Sportskeeda, Pant’s net worth stands at approximately Rs 100 crore.
Pant’s primary sources of income stem from his contracts with the BCCI, participation in the IPL with the Delhi Capitals, and earnings from brand endorsements.
Despite his setback in December 2022, Pant was awarded an A-grade central contract worth Rs 5 crore by the BCCI for the 2022-23 season. Pant secured a Grade B contract worth Rs 3 crore in the latest contract cycle.
