BJP made a clean sweep in the elections of North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council elections.
In the sixth schedule council BJP won 27 out of the 28 sets while a independent won a seat. BJP won 21 seats in the counting of ballopts on Friday and earlier it has won uncontested in six seats.
The NCHAC has 30 members, of whom 28 are elected and two are nominated.
Congress failed to open its account. Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had addressed several rallies in the area.
Several ministers of the state council on minister aggressively campaigned in the polls.
Polling for the 13th NCHAC was conducted on January 8, and a voter turnout of 85.78 per cent was recorded. Altogether 1,40,149 voters, including 69,823 men and 70,326 women were there.
Around 86 candidates from the Congress, Trinamool Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were in the fray for the 22 seats, there were also independent candidates were also in the fray.
