The state government has invested approximately ₹23 lakh to provide training to 444 artisans at their homes, enabling them to become self-reliant for employment this year.
To promote employment-oriented training, the institute has planned to develop the kite-making business in every district of Gujarat. Training is being provided to agricultural laborers and casual workers, focusing on the kite-making process, the time required, market opportunities, and employment potential.
Expert guidance on these topics is offered during the training. According to the state government, the training sessions last 30 days, with participants aged 18 to 45 years being selected in batches of 30.
Currently, training programs are being conducted at centers in Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Gandhinagar municipal areas, as well as in Anand, Kheda, Valsad, Surat, Patan, Aravalli, Dang, Narmada, and Tapi districts. Out of these, 10 programs have been completed, and the trained women artisans have started producing kites and generating income by setting up stores for sales.
