Safeguarding India's border will remain topmost priority: Rajnath Singh
India's border will remain the topmost priority and efforts will continue to take defence manufacturing and exports to greater heights, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Monday shortly after he was retained to helm the key responsibility in the new government. Singh was among the senior BJP leaders, including Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman and S Jaishankar, who retained the ministries they handled in the previous government.

Singh's assertion comes amid an over four-year border row with China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
As the defence minister since 2019, Singh initiated several path-breaking measures to strengthen India's combat readiness along the border with China as well as to boost the country's defence manufacturing.
