Preliminary investigation indicate that this to be a case of a botched burglary attempt and doesn’t suspect it to be a premeditated attempt on the actor.
Khan was stabbed six times during a burglary attempt at his home in Mumbai early on Thursday. The intruder, who managed to enter the bedroom of the actor's son, demanded Rs 1 crore from the staff, who were inside the bedroom with the child when the incident happened. The actor and his staff who sustained injuries during the episode are now reportedly stable and are recuperating.
According to the police, the accused identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad alias Vijay Das (30), an alleged Bangladeshi national who sneaked into India illegally around 5-6 months ago had entered the actor’s plush Bandra residence on Thursday night with an intension to rob.
“… the preliminary investigation indicate that around 5-6 months ago the accused had come to Mumbai then he stayed in Thane( a satellite town of Mumbai) and then around a forthright ago again returned to Mumbai,” DCP Dixit Gautam told the press on Sunday.
