Sarai Kale Khan RRTS Station trial runs to begin from next month
Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor between New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan are expected to commence by the end of April, according to officials. Sarai Kale Khan, the largest station on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor, is nearing completion and will serve as a key transport hub, integrating with multiple transit systems.
Infrastructure nearing completion
An official from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), which is executing the corridor, stated, «The track work between New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan stations is complete, and the overhead electrical masts and cables of the electric traction-related work are in the final stages. The overhead electrical masts between New Ashok Nagar and Sarai Kale Khan will be energised soon.»
Currently, Namo Bharat trains operate along a 55-km section of the corridor from New Ashok Nagar in Delhi to Meerut South, covering 11 stations. Beyond this, three additional stations—Shatabdi Nagar, Begumpul, and Modipuram—are under development.
Meerut Metro trials underway
Officials confirmed that trial runs from Meerut South to a section before Meerut Central are in progress. «Extensive trial runs from Meerut South to a section before Meerut Central are already underway. Apart from that, civil construction work on all three stations is in its final stages, and finishing work is being carried out at pace,» said the official.
