«With ‘YONO for Every Indian’, now any bank customer will have access to the UPI features like Scan and Pay, Pay by contacts, and Request money, among others on YONO’s new avatar,» the public sector bank said in a press release earlier this month. How non SBI account holders can use SBI YONO for UPI payments ET Wealth has used the SBI YONO app with a non-SBI account to send money through UPI. Let's see how it works. The SBI YONO mobile banking app is available on both Google Play Store and the iPhone App Store.
The onboarding process is quite simple for non-SBI account holders. Once you download the app, there is an option 'New to SBI'. Right below it, there is a 'Register Now option.
Non-SBI account holders can click on 'Register Now'. On the next page, you will see an option to 'Register to Make UPI Payments'. Note that your phone number must be linked to your bank account number to use this facility.
In the next step, you have to select the SIM that is registered with your bank account. To verify your number, an SMS will be sent from the selected mobile number. Standard SMS charges will apply for this message, the bank said.
Once your number is verified, you will have to select your bank to create a UPI ID. You can either type your bank name or select it from the list. Now you will get a message saying your registration for SBI Pay has started.
If it's not you, please report it to your bank immediately. You can see your bank account number at the top of your screen. Now, you have to create an SBI UPI handle.
