Sensex rises marginally on gains in bank stocks; Nifty above 19,750
The BSE Sensex was trading 82 points or 0.12% higher at 66,610. Nifty50 was trading at 19,771, up 17 points or 0.09% at around 9.20 am.
From the Sensex pack, NTPC, Tech Mahindra, Tata Motors, Bharti Airtel, and UltraTech Cement opened with gains, while Power Grid, Maruti, Bajaj Finserv, Sun Pharma, HUL and HCL Tech opened with cuts.Adani Green Energy shares opened 4% higher after the firm's net profit jump 51% to Rs 323 crore in Q1 FY24. Shares of HG Infra Engineering also rose 4% after the company posted net profit of Rs 150 crore in the first quarter, while revenue from operations came in at Rs 1,351 crore.
On the sectoral front, Nifty Metal surged 0.63%, and Nifty Auto rose 0.35%. Whereas, banks, financial services, FMCG, IT, media, pharma, and consumer durables sectors opened with cuts.
In the broader market, Nifty Midcap 50 gained 0.26%, and Nifty Smallcap 50 advanced 0.71%. MORE TO COME...
