The NSE Nifty index was trading 77.65 points up at 20978.8, while BSE Sensex was up 271.67 points at 69793.36 at the time of writing this report.
In the Nifty index, JSW Steel Ltd.(up 3.51 per cent), NTPC Ltd.(up 1.92 per cent), HCL Technologies Ltd.(up 1.77 per cent), Coal India Ltd.(up 1.51 per cent) and Hindalco Industries Ltd.(up 1.38 per cent) were among the top gainers.
While Adani Enterprises Ltd.(down 0.93 per cent), HDFC Life Insurance Company Ltd.(down 0.89 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 0.81 per cent), Bajaj Finance Ltd.(down 0.69 per cent) and Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 0.64 per cent) were among the top losers in the index.
