Raj Kundra, recently admitted that facing a very public trial for filming porn did a number on his mental health.
Kundra, who is married to Bollywood diva Shilpa Shetty, recently made his silver-screen debut with the biographical film ‘UT 69’. During the trailer launch of the movie, the entrepreneur broke down in tears and requested the media not to target his family.
In a viral video shared on Instagram, the businessman is seen crying and saying “Family pe maat jao yaar, kya bigada hai maine?” (Don’t target my family, what wrong have I done?)
He then attempted to lighten the mood by declaring himself the solo hero of the movie and recreating Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic open-arms pose.
Kundra, who was often spotted wearing a face mask after the trial, said that he found the media trial of the case “painful” and wearing the mask was his way of coping with that pain.
“I was wearing a mask only out of pain.
The media trial was very painful. In fact, it was more painful than my legal trial. I don’t blame the media because they were doing their job but it was so painful that I had to wear a mask and cover up.
I didn’t want to be seen or spotted or get my pictures clicked. I already have a star at home but now my mask has also become a star. So, I decided to make a film and took a vow to not take it off before my film comes out,” he told the journalists.
‘UT69’ deals with Kundra’s time as an inmate of the famous jail at Arthur Road, Mumbai. The movie trailer was launched on October 10, by Farah Khan. The movie will hit the theatres on November 3.
The name of the director has been kept in wraps.
Kundra was imprisoned for allegations of running a pornographic racket in 2021. He was later released on bail.
