US Vice President Kamala Harris has been nominated for Time Magazine Person of the Year 2024 while sparking significant online mockery and skepticism due to her recent defeat in the US Presidential Election against Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump, reported The US Sun.
According to The US Sun, the shortlist which eventually includes notable figures such as Donald Trump, Elon Musk and Kate Middleton will see the winner announced on December 12. Several critics on social media have eventually questioned the rationale behind the nomination of Kamala Harris while pointing out that she lost the election and suggesting that the award should go to Donald Trump instead who made a remarkable political comeback.

Time Magazine actually recognized Kamala Harris for her ‘remarkable 107 day campaign’ which was extremely focused on reproductive rights and democracy. At the same time, however, many users expressed certain disbelief at her inclusion while comments were being highlighted regarding the perceived absurdity of honoring a candidate who was defeated, asserted The US Sun.
The award traditionally honors individuals or groups that have had a significant impact in the past year and the victory of Donald Trump along with his historical context as a convicted felon has also led several people to argue that he deserves the title.
